One of my all time favourite things about the Fall is the food. There is just something so comforting about seasonal foods like soups and pastas, roasted meats and fragrant herbs and spices. I’ve definitely already started planning out some of my special Fall meals for this year, but in the meantime, as I wait for it to be a little cooler out, there are definitely some ways to incorporate Fall friendly meals into your Summer meal rotation.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a Summer barbeque as much as the next person, in fact, grilling season is one of my favourite things about the Summer. All of the fresh local produce is delicious! Hence why I plan special meals to highlight those Summer time staples, but again, in my heart of hearts, Fall is definitely where it is at.

Just because it is summer time, doesn’t mean you have to abandon your favourite Fall flavours. And what better way to add a little joy into your day than starting it off with a delicious, healthy breakfast? This past weekend, I decided I needed to embrace one of my favourite flavours of the Fall with coffee and cinnamon. So I made a baked Coffee Cake Oatmeal. Super simple, but added that little touch of cinnamon to the meal. Top it off with an Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Latte and you have yourself a summer friendly Fall inspired breakfast!

One of my favourite things to bake is bread. There is nothing like a fresh backed loaf of bread to warm up your kitchen and saturate it in delicious, mouth watering smells. I have yet to master sourdough, but it’s on my list of things to try and get into this Fall while I am on maternity leave. In the meantime, artisan loafs are an easy way to bake some delicious bread.

Another meal I’ve made recently that definitely gives Fall vibes is this Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese. While squash tends to be an autumn staple, mac and cheese is a year round meal for me, so why not add a little veg to what can often be seen as an indulgent meal.

At the end of the day, you can eat what you want, when you want it. Feel like having a full blown turkey dinner in August? Why not? Who is stopping you?
