Even though it is still hot and humid outside, there is no question that Fall is soon approaching, and I cannot wait! Even though we may have to wait another couple of months for us to truly enjoy the cooler weather, there are still plenty of ways to slow down and embrace the upcoming season.
1. Start a New Crafting Project
My go to activity for cooler weather projects are to start crocheting my holiday gifts. I’ve been knitting since I was a child. My grandmother taught me when I was off school sick one day, but crochet has been a more recent passion of mine. I started crocheting in the 2010s (although the exact date escapes me at the moment), mostly because I wanted to make amigurumi toys. Since I started, I’ve been hooked (excuse the pun), and every year I make a bunch of stuffed toys to give to family and friends or even sell to make a little extra money over the holidays. The summer is the perfect time to start stockpiling a craft that you plan to give as gifts or sell during the holiday season, so gather your supplies, set yourself up in a little crafting corner and go nuts! Nothing says cozy fall activity more than prepping for the holidays, even if it is months ahead of time.

2. Bake Something
Nothing says slow living than spending time baking. Plus it makes the house smell divine. I love spending my mornings baking a loaf of bread or a sweet treat for the week (or lets face it, the next 24 hours). While baking can seem like a year round activity, there is something to be said about trying out some of the fragrant Fall recipes, and why not give them a go in the summer? As a trial, of course!

3. Have a Bonfire
Summer time is all about spending time outdoors, rushing to different activities, but it’s also about enjoying the warm weather, especially when you live in an ever changing climate. I’m Canadian, and am very fortunate to have actual seasons (although some are much too short!), but there is nothing better than ending a wonderfully hectic day than by the fire, when the nights are a little cooler, with a cozy blanket, drink in hand, watching the flames flicker. It really brings out those moody vibes reminiscent of the Fall.

4. Enjoy the Season
Yes, I am obviously a Fall Fanatic, but I can certainly appreciate the summer months as well. The longer, warmer days aren’t all that bad. And they are certainly better than the minus 40, dark days we can get in the winter. So even though we can anxiously await the beautiful Fall colours, cooler temperatures and moodier vibes, the summer is all about living life to its fullest. Enjoying vacations with your family and friends, taking the kids on big adventures that they’ll remember forever. So I say enjoy it while you can. The Fall will be here soon enough.
