Fall Inspired Fashion for When it’s Too Hot for Flannel

Summer fashion has always been a challenge for me, especially as someone who is on the curvy side, and of a certain age. It just feels like the cute outfits are geared more towards the hip, tiny teenagers, while the curvy adults are left with ugly cold shoulder tops and too short shorts.

I love this dark red pattern with a pair of jeans for a fun fall inspired summer look.

This year though, I’ve embraced the summer dress, and honestly, I think it fits perfectly with moodier fall vibes. A breezy dress is perfect for those warm, sticky summer days. but also transitions well into the fall season when you pick the right colours and the right accessories.

A cute summer dress with a jean jacket and dark purse is a great way to accessorize.

Now, I have no idea what “season” I am in terms of colour theory, but I do tend to be more drawn to warmer earthier tones in both the summer and the fall. Think 2025’s colour of the year, Mocha Mousse, or even last year’s colour of the year, Peach Fuzz. Richer colours don’t need to be dark and foreboding, although I do love a black tee or dress as well. Really, the key to bringing on the fall vibes is how you wear your clothes.

I love this colour as a transitional piece from Summer to Fall.

Right now, the stores are already gearing up for fall and back to school, and it’s easy to find things that fall within the parameters of fall fashion. A cute t-shirt dress with booties? Yes please! Or how about a pair of jeans with a breezy lacy top? Add some brown sandals and gold accessories and you’re already well on your way to fall inspired fashion finds.

Another great transitional colour when you are trying to add some fall vibes to your summer wardrobe.

How do you incorporate fall style into your summer wardorbe?
