Weekend Roundup

This weekend was a little more calm than our usual weekends these days. Don’t get me wrong, I love a relaxing weekend and will definitely take full advantage of them while I can, but sometimes they can be a little, shall I say it? Boring.

Friday started out like your typical Friday, went to work, came home. Decided to go to my partner’s hockey game since it wasn’t as late as his usual games. That was fine. It meant rushing around a little bit after work, but again, totally fine.

Saturday was uneventful. My partner works on Saturday mornings, so I had the house to myself. My mom stopped by for a coffee, I took the dog to the groomer’s, ran a couple of errands, typical weekend stuff. When my partner got home, we decided to go do some blueberry picking at the local farm. That was fun. I love blueberries.

Sunday my partner was golfing, so again, I had the house to myself for most of the day. We did decide to do a blueberry meal day though since we had some fresh picked berries on hand, so a lot of my day was spent prepping, baking and cooking. We started with blueberry crumble muffins, then for lunch, had a nice, blueberry ricotta toast, and the real showstopper of the day was dinner.

Blueberry Pork Chops with mashed sweet potato and a Blueberry Peach Salad. Finally, for dessert, I made a Magnolia Bakery Blueberry Jamboree. I was a little worried that blueberry day would be a bit of a tough day to execute, but honestly, it turned out so well! It might even be tied for Pumpkin Day in terms of my favourite local produce days. Which says a lot.

Even though the weekend wasn’t super exciting, I still got quite a bit done, took some time to rest and reset, and just enjoyed the time alone. On to the new week and whatever that has in store!

What kind of things do you do on a slow weekend? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
