Air Conditioning and Autumn Candles: Creating Cozy Fall Vibes at Home

One of my favourite pass times is scrolling through Pinterest searching for interesting new recipes, DIY projects, home decor, etc. Lately, I’ve fallen a bit into a seasonal home decor trap. All of the pictures I’m seeing are cute and cozy fall decorating ideas, and even though we are still in the middle of summer, I wanted to try and add some fall inspired vibes to our home.

There’s no question that fall is my favourite season, and while summer is pleasant enough, it doesn’t give me the same feelings as the fall when it comes to aesthetics, so here are a few ways to incorporate fall vibes into your home during the summer time.

Find Your Colour Scheme

When I am decorating, I like to keep things within a specific colour scheme. For example, when I hosted my Raspberry Day this year, I made sure to add pops of pink, purple and raspberry. When it comes to fall colour palettes, there are so many colours to choose from. In the summer time, I would tend to keep things on the brighter side, maybe opting yellows, wheats and brighter greens over darker moodier colours like burnt orange, mahogany or black, but truly, you have carte-blanche here, so go for whatever makes sense for your space. In my case, I opted for oranges and reds this late summer, and will probably stick to the theme this fall, but maybe going for more burnt orange and deeper reds. I’m still deciding on my fall aesthetic this year.

Incorporate Fall Scents

The summer is all about fresh floral scents, beachy smells, fresh fruit, whereas, to me at least, the fall is more about calming vanillas, coffees, and spices. I love burning candles in the fall, but what’s to stop you from doing the same in the summer. My go to scents for the fall are spices, but in the summer, I still like to keep it fresh, so I opt for more darker berry scents, or pear or orange. There’s no harm adding in some spice if you feel so inclined.

Don’t Forget the Cozy!

The best part of cooler weather, in my opinion, is getting all snuggled up in knit sweaters and blankets, but when it’s 30 degrees outside, that’s often the very last thing you are thinking about. That said though, a lightweight throw or knit blanket is a perfect accessory at any time of the year, so bust out your coziest blanket and pillows and toss them on your sofa or accent chair for added cozy vibes.

What are some of your favourite late summer decorating tips to add more fall into your home?
